Welcome to the ASQ Philadelphia Section 0505 Education Program
The Section offers Educational Courses and Monthly Dinner Meeting Programs for members and non-members. To visit the Monthly Program calendar, back click to the home page and click on the Program Title for details.
The Section’s Education Committee offers classes in suburban Philadelphia within a few miles from Pennsylvania Turnpike on:
All courses offer an exceptional value to participants and are conducted by qualified local quality professionals. Textbooks and handouts are included in the course fee. Some courses use instructor supplied material. The fees include all materials required for the course. If the class is during the day, morning and afternoon refreshments and lunch is included in the tuition.
The fee for each course is shown as the non-ASQ member cost. The ASQ member fee is $25.00 less. A 10% discount of the total cost is applied when 3 or more students (members and non-members) enroll at the same time ‘On-Line’ or with company purchase order.
For a copy of the On-Site Inquiry form, skip to the end of this document.
How to Enroll in a Course
To enroll in one of the course offerings, use either our On-Line registration system or the enrollment form by clicking here.
The on-line service is from ‘Eventbrite’, a nation wide company specializing in event reservations. Your reservation will be called a ‘ticket’ but it pertains to enrollment. Reaching Eventbrite at www.eventbrite.com does not obligate you to enroll. You can search the list of courses and program meetings and make your choice.
Details of each course’s content, meeting dates, deadline for enrollment, tuition, what is included in the tuition cost, and a map to the course venue are shown.
Payment of Course Fees
Course fees may be paid by personal check, company check or by company purchase order. Checks for course fees are due by the first class session unless other arrangements have been made with the Education Chair. If payment is to be by purchase order, the purchase order should be made out to: “ASQ Philadelphia Section 0505” and mailed to
ASQ Philadelphia Section 505 Education Registrar
149 Kirkland Ave.
West Chester, Pennsylvania 19380-3982
Questions or assistance to Email: captkmcc@verizon.net (registrar) or rwwitten@verizon.net (Edu. Comm. Chair).
Please do not process your purchase order or write the check for payment until you have been notified by the instructor that the course will be offered. Make certain that you provide a contact name, phone number and/or email address of the person receiving the invoice on the enrollment documents.
Special Offer for Unemployed Members or Reduced Work-time Members
Unemployed or reduced work-time ASQ members may attend one certification preparation course (CP-XXX) identified on the Section 505 Course Schedule, January to May 2009 for free provided the course is held. The only cost to you will be the course materials (textbook, manual, etc.) and the food service costs if this course is held during the day. The course must meet our minimum paid enrollment of 3 students in order to be held.
This offer is available to any ASQ member from all neighboring sections to Section 0505. The only condition is that the member is in ‘good standing’ with ASQ for the previous 12 months.
To apply, register for the course and immediately notify the Section Registrar of your status and send one of the following proofs of your situation:
· The document to ASQ Headquarters of a suspension of membership fees due to unemployment.
· A copy of your state unemployment agency form.
· A letter of explanation from your immediate supervisor indicating the reduced work-time status. Applies only to previously full-time (min. 35hrs/wk) employees.
The Registrar will reply with the cost of materials and food service, if applicable.
Continuation of this offer for the fall courses will be made and announced on the web-site by August 2009.
Minimum Enrollments, Cancellation and Refunds
Certification preparation courses will be held with an enrollment of at least three paying students. All others require a minimum enrollment of six students. In some courses the minimum is eight students because of in-class exercises.
Substitute student registrations are gladly accepted, and are preferred to cancellations. Contact the Education Registrar with these changes to ensure accurate record keeping.
Refunds will not be granted after the third class session unless the course is cancelled by the Section. It is the Section’s intention to complete all scheduled courses, however, if extenuating circumstances force cancellation, refunds will be prorated after the cost of materials has been deducted.
Course times and locations
All courses will be conducted during weekday evening hours (Mon-Thurs. 6 to 9:30 PM) or during the day (not earlier than 8 AM or later than 5 PM). Specific classroom sites have been selected by the instructor and are shown on the Course Schedule and a map is provided on www.eventbrite.com.
Schedule of Courses
The list of all courses planned for delivery from January through May 2009 is shown on the Course Schedule along with the dates, tuition, venues and instructor. Click here to see the Course Schedule. This list will be updated as new courses are added and key information becomes available. At this time, some classes have not been fully described and are identified as ‘to be determined (TBD). To see the instructor’s biography, click on the instructor name.
Certification Note:
If you intend to seek certification, be aware that registration and fees for these Section-held classes do not include registration for the exam. For detailed information including the dates of the exams, go to www.ASQ.org and click on Certification.
Enrollment Deadlines
The enrollment deadline for each course is listed on the Course Schedule and on the course enrollment page on www.eventbrite.com. The deadline is typically nine (9) days before the course’s start date to allow for time to receive the required books and/or preparation of the course materials. Please monitor this deadline when considering enrollment.
After Deadline Enrollment
Late registrations of confirmed courses may be possible at the discretion of the instructor. Contact the Education Chair, Bob Wittendorf at email: rwwitten@verizon.net or phone (after 7PM), 610-489-1898.
On Site Course Offerings
Most of the courses listed in the Course Schedule can be presented on-site at your facility at a substantial savings, subject to instructor availability. The only requirement for an on-site offering is a minimum enrollment of seven (7) students and a suitable location to hold the class. The course content can be partially customized to fit your unique situation. The instructor will negotiate on-site training on a case-by-case basis.
For additional information, complete the On-site form and send to the Education Chair. The instructor will follow-up with the identified contact person.
